Main characteristics
General-purpose low hardenability cold work tool steel, advanced high carbon tool steel, the advantage is good machinability, cheap, easy to source, but poor hardenability, quenching deformation, because the steel contains few alloying elements, tempering resistance is low, and thus low load-bearing capacity. Although there is high hardness and wear resistance, but the small section workpiece toughness is not enough, large section section billet has the tendency of residual reticulated carbide.
The minimum heating temperature of globalization 740 ℃, the best isothermal temperature 690 ℃ -720 ℃, the emergence of lamellar carbide heating temperature 780 ℃, heated softening temperature 250 ℃, hardening depth of water quenching 15-18 mm, oil quenching 5-7 mm.
The steel is rough machined in annealed condition, then quenched and low temperature tempered to high hardness, and then finish machined. High wear resistance and mirror polishability are obtained. Low carbon martensite low temperature quenching is carried out to give high wear resistance and toughness, prevent and reduce deformation and cracking phenomenon.
